Bird of the Night | Great Horned Owl Illustration
A drawing honoring the spirit of a great horned owl I encountered dead on the side of the road before I was embarking on a big life transition. I have felt guided and watched over by her ever since…her spirit feels like a gentle grandmother.
Owl medicine is about finding our sight/vision in the dark—initiating one’s psychic and intuitive abilities. The owl is a bird of the night, and the night is a symbol of the void within—the place within us that is hidden even from us. Owls are silent flyers—another teaching is the importance of knowing when to remain hidden.
I hope this drawing can be a reminder for others of how to trust yourself even when you are in a “dark” period. To trust you are guided, always. And a thank you to this owl spirit for being with me every step of the way on this journey I’ve been on.
